- 3. _C_h_a_n_g_e_s__a_n_d__A_d_d_i_t_i_o_n_s
-
- The inst image name for this product has changed from
- nnnnssss____pppprrrrooooxxxxyyyy to nnnnssssssss____pppprrrrooooxxxxyyyy. This is done to differentiate between
- the Proxy Server that was in SuiteSpot 2.x and the one in
- SuiteSpot 3.x. It is not only a marketing bundle change; the
- product resides in a different directory structure
- (/var/netscape/suitespot vs. /usr/ns-home) and works with a
- different Administration Server (3.x vs. 2.x).
-
- After installation of this Proxy Server release, you should
- manually migrate your configuration files and remove the old
- server. You can remove it by doing _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e _n_s__p_r_o_x_y
- and then _r_m -_r /_u_s_r/_n_s-_h_o_m_e/_p_r_o_x_y-<_h_o_s_t> as root user.
-
- There are many new features added to this release of
- Netscape Proxy Server. The bulk of the information is in the
- online Release Notes, but here are some highlights.
-
- 3.1 _L_D_A_P__S_u_p_p_o_r_t
-
- The Proxy Server supports LDAP for authentication, access
- control, and user and group management.
-
- 3.2 _S_O_C_K_S__v_5
-
- Netscape provides a SOCKS v5 daemon for the generic
- tunneling of many other protocols and applications.
-
- 3.3 _S_i_l_i_c_o_n__G_r_a_p_h_i_c_s__C_u_s_t_o_m_i_z_a_t_i_o_n
-
- The Silicon Graphics version of the server includes a
- "smart" configure script that tries to follow changes to the
- system such as hostname or domainname change. This script is
- located at
- /var/netscape/suitespot/sgi_config/proxy/configure. It is
- being called by the startup script /etc/init.d/nss_proxy and
- will try to reconfigure the Proxy Server instance assigned
- to the previous hostname. The files that are affected by
- this script are listed in
- /var/netscape/suitespot/sgi_config/proxy/editlist and
- /var/netscape/suitespot/sgi_config/proxy/namelist.
